Subject: The British UFO Mystery

UK's Channel Five are showing a one hour documentary tonight,
examining a wave of UFO sightings that occurred on 30 and 31
March 1993, over a period of several hours. A cluster of the
sightings may have been attributable to the burning up of a
Russian rocket, but many of the others were harder to explain.
Many of the witnesses were police and military personnel and the
UFO was described by some as a vast triangular shaped craft,
capable of accelerating in seconds from a virtual hover to
speeds of around Mach 2.

I wrote about this case briefly in my first book, Open Skies
Closed Minds, and have discussed it in several previous TV shows
and newspaper articles, but this is the first documentary
entirely devoted to the incident. The TV production company used
the Freedom of Information Act to obtain the MOD casefile on the
incident (which runs to over 100 pages) and then asked me to
work with them and tell the story, on the basis that I was
running the MOD's UFO project at the time of the incident and
led the investigation.

The documentary covers the sightings themselves, the roles of
the Defence Intelligence Staff and the Ballistic Missile Early
Warning System at RAF Fylingdales, the briefing of the Assistant
Chief of the Air Staff and the liaison with the US Government.

The British UFO Mystery will be screened at 8pm on Channel Five
on Wednesday November 1:
