Subject: Sunday Express UK - UFO Cover-Up Goes On


Under a massive banner headline 'Flying saucers - After 50 years
the cover-up conspiracy goes on....." Britain's Sunday Express,
today (June 19, 02), carried a double-page feature on the UFO
Disclosure Project.

In my opinion it is a fair report - definitely angled that a
conspiracy of silence _does_ exist.

The story - set in white on black - and by Hamish Mackenzie
strongly features John Callahan a former senior accident
investigator with the US Federal Aviation Authority who was
involved in the Japan Airlines Flight 1628 UFO sighting in
November 1986.

The UFO - a huge ball, four times bigger than than a 747
aircraft, with lights running round it - was observed performing
acrobatics, by the flight crew and ground radar.

Afterwards Callahan - who told his story at the Washington press
conference - convened a meeting of those involved which he
claims was attended by three anonymous CIA men who confiscated
all the audio, radar recordings, printouts and documents of the
sighting and "told us this had never happened and we had never
had this meeting."

But Callahan didn't disclose that he had earlier made copies of
all the evidence.

The newspaper reports that business development consultant
Stephen Bassett plans to run as an independent in the 8th
Congressional District of Maryland election in November, on the
UFO Disclosure Ticket, in a bid to bring the issue before the
U.S. Congress.

Mention is made in the report about some dissension in
Disclosure ranks by some who feel alien contact stories should
not have been included. But even moon-walker Edgar Mitchell, who
is no longer a Disclosure witness but still a supporter, is
quoted as saying about UFOs "I have discussed the matter with
some 'old timers' who do have first hand knowledge."

Writer Mackenzie ends his report thus:

"What is clear is that a large number of individuals have come
forward and made statements whose implications, if true, are
profound. If the witnesses are who they say they are - and are
found to be lying - then we should be very concerned about the
type of individuals who fly our planes, control air traffic, man
the missile silos and protect our communities. If, on the other
hand, the witnesses are telling the truth then - no matter how
extraordinary - this is a serious issue"
