This week, “Joy” weaves a spellbinding tale for us of fairies, dust and tutus. And, of course, their obvious connection to UFOs. Enjoy. “I’ve been in the ufo field for many years. Am 65 married to a textile scientist, two sons in their 40s. Thous. of books here in Mass. from the USA and England where weve lived and travelled alot in the pst 20 plus years. I have been into fairies for years and my articles are on ufofourm lib. files. I know in FAte mag a woman in her 30s probably (intellignet) had had an item re rfairy dust she had gotten at some site I dont know where. So alot of people wrote her to ask for a sample as she promised (in Fate) but I dont think they ever got any. What her excuse was I dont know. She had an intelligent item in Fte and had seen fairies dancing. I mysefl May85 saw a tall red fairy (ina tutu- which was red too) dancing inthe middle of highway 30 miels o r so from Limerick Ire. where we were touring at the time. (been to London mostly)” “I have alot on ufooum re my articles (pub. in England and here)(years ago) Its very complex re fairies. the natural occupants of fhe astral plane where we all are when we sleep. But if not thanks for'liustenning" ------ All rants are printed “as is,” with spelling and grammar goofs left uncorrected. Some rants may be edited for brevity or clarity, to the extent such a thing is possible. If you’ve got a rant you’d like to share, send it to pscplady@aol.com with “possible rant” in the subject line of your letter. -+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ Coming Up This Week! Catch a number of great stories this week on the ParaScope web and AOL sites, including daily updates to our Conspiracy Newsline and Daily Dose features. Among the articles you'll want to check out: Bigfoot in Russia Cryptozoologists generally focus their Bigfoot searches on the Pacific Northwest and western Canada, the supposed natural habitat of the paranormal world's favorite hairy biped. But the creature has also been sighted in other parts of the globe, including the former Soviet Union. Paul Stonehill reports on how Russian scientists and researchers of the paranormal have been studying Bigfoot, ranging from "snow man" expeditions in the Primorskaya region to the pioneering research of a cryptozoologist named Yeltsin (no relation to Boris). --------------------- The Paper Trail: Special Issue on JFK Assassination Records Dossier's monthly review of new document releases returns with a special issue featuring the work of the Assassination Records Review Board. The ARRB has spearheaded the effort to declassify documents on President Kennedy's murder. Don't miss this documented roundup of intriguing case studies that demonstrate government secrecy -- and government openess -- in action. --------------------- "E.T.H." vs. "P.S.H.": Jerome Clark Responds to John Rimmer Several weeks ago, ParaScope published an article by John Rimmer from Magonia, which criticized Jerome Clark for his advocacy of the "extraterrestrial hypothesis" of the origins of UFOs. Rimmer, who advocates the "psychosocial hypothesis," was quite critical of Clark's position. In the interests of robust debate, ParaScope presents Jerome Clark's response to Rimmer's critique. Are UFOs piloted by beings from outer space, or is it all in our heads? --------------------- The Handoff: LAPD Fumbles Citizens’ Rights to Privacy Most folk think telephone wiretaps are rare, exotic intrusions by federal investigators into the lives of “narco-terrorists” or “mafia bosses.” But the Los Angeles Police Department, the largest law enforcement organization outside the federal areana, executes scores of wiretaps every year. In fact, since 1984, the LAPD has been sharing confidential wiretap information between various department personnel without court permission or supervisory oversight, much less Constitutional authorization. As a result, an estimated 200,000 L.A. area phone conversations have been illegally recorded by LAPD investigators. Learn the sad details of how America’s largest police department has been snooping on innocent citizens without warrants for more than a decade, and why L.A. County prosecutors consider the matter “no big deal.” --------------------- Operation Radical, Dude! The CIA’s “Just for Kids” Web Site The hottest trend in brand marketing today is to hook 'em while they're young. If you build brand loyalty among your customers early in life, they'll never stray, buying your product for the next half century. Now the CIA has taken a government mandate to make the web more hospitable and helpful to young people and turned it into a ham-fisted effort at, like, totally awesomely lame propaganda for the Barney generation. Ultimately, it’s a toss-up as to which is more disturbing: the Company’s shameless attempt to whitewash its activities in a warm and fuzzy light, or its utter incompetence in achieving that mission. Either way, you’re sure to enjoy this awesomely radical tour of the radically awesome CIA for Kids web site. --------------------- UFO Roundup The latest UFOlogy news and sighting reports, courtesy of Joseph Trainor's UFO Roundup. Mysterious green lights over Half Moon Bay; Dutch UFOlogists dispute story of "giant UFO" chase over North Sea; Peru's "lardsucker" suspected by some in bizarre double homicide; crop circles appear in Germany; lots more news. --------------------- Conspiracy Newsline As the saying goes, if you aren't paranoid yet, you just aren't paying attention. Federal judge dismisses involuntary manslaughter charges against FBI sharpshooter Lon Horiuchi; Amnesty International report condemns U.S. Border Patrol conduct, citing rapes, beatings and other human rights abuses; judge orders closure of 6 California medical marijuana dispensaries; new evidence to be presented on Robert Kennedy assassination anniversary; lots more news. --------------------- Hypnosis in Interrogation: An Early CIA Assessment "The control over a person's behavior ostensibly achieved in hypnosis obviously nominates it for use in the difficult process of interrogation." So begins a 1960 CIA study of "Hypnosis in Interrogation" which appeared in the agency's journal Studies in Intelligence. Could placing interrogatees under trance help loosen their lips? Read what one CIA analyst concluded in this declassified report. --------------------- Fortean Slips: Celebrating Dispatch #100 from the Paranormal Fringe! Back when Enigma editor D. Trull first said he wanted to do paranormal news commentary with a heaping helping of wackiness, we said, "Okay, Donald, you can have a quarantined-off little section where you can go nuts without infecting the rest of ParaScope too severely." Two years later, Fortean Slips has filed its 100th report -- and apparently, some of you out there actually read this crap! Join the festivities as this prolific pile of pandemonious puffery hits the century mark with a truly special lineup: Loch Ness Politics: If you think there's bitter controversy between Nessie hunters and Nessie skeptics, wait till you see the duplicitous intrigue of territorial wars waged between Historic Scotland and the Loch Ness Monster tourist industry. Burnt by Burnt Offerings: A Florida woman with evil spirits in her house and plenty of dough in the bank fell prey to an exorcism scam that sent $200,000 up in smoke. Global Warping: Ever felt like the fabric of reality was twisting up in knots all around you? Maybe this will explain a few things: scientists have discovered that the Earth is dragging space and time around itself as it rotates. A Mythological Boner: And lo, there shall come Fortean Slip #100... an epic saga of anomalous absurdity that's so damn funny, the Surgeon General's Commission on the Prevention of Busted Guts has advised us that its exact contents must remain top secret. Be there! ...All this, and much, much more! -+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ Jane, Stop This Crazy Thing! Thought you were tough enough to handle the Dispatch and now you realize you're not?
